UPPER PENINSULA, Michigan (WJMN) – Winters in the Upper Peninsula are one of a kind, here you will find the festivals and events happening this winter.

Eben Ice Caves are located in the Rock River Canyon Wilderness of the Hiawatha National Forest. Directions to the site can be found on Facebook. The Chatham Pub and New Moon Bar rent out YakTraks for visitors who need them.

Ishpeming Suicide Hill Ski Jump – It’s a bird, it’s a plane! No! It’s a person! The annual Suicide Hill ski jump takes place on January 18. Visit the Ishpeming Ski Club website for more details on the event and where to buy badges.

Heikki Luna Winter Festival, you’d better start practicing your snow dance as Negaunee hosts their annual Hekki Lunta winter festival on January 28-29. Find a list of the festivities here.

Pine Mountain ski jump February 4 and 5 will be the dates for the annual Pine Mountain ski jump. The Kiwanis Ski Club is hosting the event.

Vollwerth’s Meats WINTERNATIONAUX Snowmobile Hill Climb takes place February 5-6 at South Range at Whealkate Bluff. The event is part of the Mid America Snow and Terrain Expert Racers circuit.

Munising Ice Cream Festival is February 9-13 in Munising. Ice climbing enthusiasts can learn to climb, discover new equipment and meet other climbers during lessons, presentations and climbing meetings. Register and find the program of events online here.

Copper dog sled race will take place March 4-6 on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The races leave from Calumet, find more information on their website.

MTU Winter Carnival Michigan Technological University’s Blue Key National Honor Society will host the 100th Winter Carnival this year. Construction of the statue began on January 1.
